4th of July Celebrations

I figured it would be better late than never...sorry, I had to get ready for my scrapbooking weekend trip (see Blog post below this one to read all about it). So I thought I'd just catch you all up on what's been going on our way.

We went to Navy Lake in Millington on July 3rd. We invited several people and ended up with 9 families there. This was our first time to go and it is one BIG EVENT!!! We got there a little early to let the kids play together and we had dinner and then got to watch the BIG FIREWORK SHOW. It was GREAT!!

Here we are...

Aunt Kathy and Carter

Aunt Kathy, Christian, and Mom

Carter was really amazed at the fireworks. Just look at that face...

I snuck up and silly stringed a friend of mine and actually hit Donald too...

So we all got a good laugh out of it and she was a really good sport about it but I know payback is coming. :-) Then of course the rest of the silly string bottle was used on the kids. The biggest hit for most of the kids (with the exception of the fireworks, of course) was the glow in the dark sticks.

We really didn't do much on the 4th. Jason went and played golf with a friend. That evening we went and did our usual tradition of going to a Redbirds game. Unfortunately we lost 12-7. Our 7 runs were all from homeruns. Since they were going to have fireworks after the game, we thought it would be a great idea to park on the top deck of the parking garage to watch them and then leave and get out of there quick...BOY WERE WE WRONG!!! Lots of people had the same idea and it took us 45 minutes to get out. Yikes.

Aunt Kathy is always spoiling Carter...well, when they got back from the gift shop, why should the 4th of July be any different...she had bought him a new shirt (in the family picture), a baseball helmet hat, and mini bat. Unfortunately, he got the mini bat taken away until after the game b/c it was a full house and he knows how to use a bat...shall I say anymore.

Since I was off for the 4th and was going to be off Friday the 6th for my trip, I thought why go in to work on Thursday, so I spent time with Carter. I took him swimming and let me tell you...he is just a little fish. See for yourself...

Christian, Aunt Kathy, and Carter

He is taking swimming lessons this week and seems to be doing really well with it. He's jumping off the diving board and swimming under water a little bit...not bad for a 3 year old. The teachers have given him a new nickname..."wildman". For those of you who personally know Carter, than you can TOTALLY relate.
